What are the three types of screen printing?

1, Traditional screen printing
Traditional screen printing, as the name suggests, is the most fundamental and classic form of screen printing technology. It relies on manual or semi-automatic printing equipment to complete the entire printing process through steps such as manual plate making, ink blending, and ink scraping printing. This type of screen printing has the following significant characteristics:
Mature technology: After long-term development and improvement, the traditional screen printing technology has become quite mature and can meet the printing needs of various complex patterns and texts.
Wide material adaptability: It can be applied to almost all types of substrate materials, including paper, plastic, metal, fabric, etc., greatly expanding its application range.
Cost effectiveness: In mass production, traditional screen printing has high cost-effectiveness and can significantly reduce unit costs, making it suitable for large-scale industrial production.
However, traditional screen printing also has some limitations, such as long plate making cycles, relatively slow printing speeds, and high technical requirements for operators. These issues to some extent limit its application in certain specific fields.
2, UV screen printing
UV screen printing is a new printing method that introduces UV curing technology on the basis of traditional screen printing. UV curing technology utilizes ultraviolet radiation to rapidly cure ink, greatly shortening the printing cycle and improving printing quality. The characteristics of UV screen printing are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
High printing efficiency: UV ink quickly solidifies under ultraviolet irradiation, greatly shortening the printing cycle and improving production efficiency.
Excellent printing quality: UV ink has bright colors, high glossiness, and strong wear resistance, which can present more delicate and realistic printing effects.
Environmental protection and energy conservation: UV ink contains almost no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), reducing environmental pollution; Meanwhile, there is no need for heating during the UV curing process, saving energy.
UV screen printing has a wide range of application prospects in packaging, advertising, decoration and other fields, especially in situations where high-quality printing effects are required.
3, Digital screen printing
With the rapid development of digital technology, digital screen printing has emerged. Digital screen printing combines digital technology with screen printing technology to achieve a fully digital process from design to printing. This new printing method has the following significant characteristics:
Strong flexibility: Digital screen printing does not require plate making and can directly output computer files to the printing machine for printing, achieving true "what you see is what you get". This flexibility makes it particularly suitable for small batch, multi variety, and rapidly changing printing needs.
High precision: Digital screen printing adopts high-precision inkjet printing technology, which can achieve micrometer level printing accuracy and meet printing tasks with extremely high detail requirements.
Convenient color management: Digital screen printing supports international standard color management systems (such as ICC color management), ensuring high consistency between printed colors and design colors.
Digital screen printing has demonstrated strong vitality in fields such as personalized customization, art reproduction, and short form printing. It not only improves printing efficiency and quality, but also greatly reduces printing costs and time costs, bringing new development opportunities to the printing industry.
