Is rubber mold better than silicone mold?

Firstly, let's take a look at the characteristics of rubber molds. Rubber molds are usually made of natural rubber or synthetic rubber and have good elasticity and toughness. This makes rubber molds perform well in applications that require high flexibility, such as when making soft parts or products. Rubber molds are relatively inexpensive, making them an ideal choice for projects with limited budgets. However, the durability of rubber molds may be relatively low and may not be suitable for some scenarios that require long-term use or high-strength manufacturing.
In contrast, silicone molds have some different characteristics. Silicone is a highly stable and high-temperature resistant material, so silicone molds typically perform better in environments that require high temperature or chemical corrosion. The texture of silicone molds is relatively soft, which makes them suitable for manufacturing processes that require high precision and detail. In addition, silicone molds generally have a longer lifespan and can withstand more usage and repeated manufacturing. However, the manufacturing cost of silicone molds is usually high, which may be a factor to consider in some budget limited projects.
Manufacturing requirements are one of the decisive factors when choosing rubber or silicone molds. If the project requires high flexibility and low cost of molds, then rubber molds may be a more suitable choice. If the project has higher requirements for the high-temperature resistance, high precision, and long service life of the mold, then silicone molds may be more suitable.
In addition, it is necessary to consider the specific requirements of the manufacturing process. Rubber molds may be easier to process and manufacture, but silicone molds may excel in applications that require higher precision and detail. Therefore, selecting appropriate mold materials is crucial for different projects and manufacturing needs.
