How to determine if something has been injection molded?

1、 Visual inspection
1. Surface smoothness
Injection molded products typically have a smooth outer surface. Therefore, the first step is to check the surface smoothness of the product. If the surface of the product is uneven, cracked, or uneven, it may indicate a problem during the injection molding process.
2. The shape and size of the product
The shape and size of the product are also important factors in determining whether it has been injection molded. By comparing with the design drawings, it is possible to check whether the shape and size of the product are consistent with expectations. If there is a significant deviation, further adjustment and inspection may be necessary.
3. Injection molding identification
During the injection molding process, some information is usually marked on the product, such as production date, batch number, etc. Checking whether these markings are clearly visible and comply with the product's design requirements can help determine whether the product has been injection molded.
4. Color consistency
If the product requires dyeing or has specific color requirements, it is necessary to ensure color consistency of the product. Any color difference can be a sign of injection molding problems.
2、 Weight inspection
1. Weighing
Injection molded products typically have a predetermined weight range. By using a balance or weighing equipment, it is possible to check whether the weight of the product is within the specified range. If the weight deviation of the product is too large, further inspection of the molding process may be necessary.
2. Material loss
It is also possible to determine whether the product has been injection molded by calculating the amount of raw materials used. If the dosage matches the design requirements, it can be considered that the product has been successfully injection molded.
3、 Sound inspection
1. Knocking sound
By lightly tapping on the surface of the product, you can hear whether the product emits a uniform sound. If there are voids or loose parts in the product, the knocking sound will have a significant change.
2. Loudness
The loudness of the product can also be used to determine whether it has been injection molded. Normally, injection molded products should have uniform loudness and no obvious voids or abnormal noises.
4、 Thermal inspection
1. Temperature
During the injection molding process, plastic materials need to be heated to a certain temperature and then injected into the mold. Therefore, it is possible to determine whether the temperature of the product meets the requirements of injection molding by touching its surface. Usually, products should have a certain degree of heat.
2. Hot melt line
Some injection molded products may form hot melt lines on the surface during the molding process. These lines are usually caused by uneven temperature or inconsistent injection speed of the melt during injection into the mold. Therefore, checking the presence of hot melt lines on the surface of the product can help determine whether it has been injection molded.
5、 Quality inspection
1. Material quality
In addition to appearance, weight, and sound, more in-depth quality checks are also required. Check whether the material quality of the product meets the requirements and whether there are any foreign objects mixed in.
2. Strength testing
According to the design requirements of the product, strength testing can be conducted to determine whether the product meets the strength requirements. This can be achieved through methods such as tensile testing, bending testing, compression testing, etc.
3. Quality control records
During the injection molding process, quality control data for each production batch is usually recorded. Checking these records can help determine whether the product has been injection molded and meets quality standards.
6、 Sealing inspection
1. Mold marking
During the injection molding process, the mold usually leaves some marks on the product, such as injection ports, cooling channels, etc. Checking the presence of these markings can help determine whether the product has been injection molded.
2. Sealing line
The sealing line of a product is an important inspection point, especially for products with high sealing requirements. Checking whether the sealing line of the product is complete and uniform can help determine whether the product has been successfully injection molded.
