Material selection and preparation
Firstly, it is necessary to choose suitable materials for the printed items, such as plastic, metal, ceramics, etc. Subsequently, necessary pre-treatment is carried out based on the characteristics of the item, such as decontamination, degreasing, rust removal, etc., to ensure that the surface is clean and free of impurities.
Spray primer
Spraying primer on the surface of the item to be printed is one of the key steps. Primer can not only enhance the adhesion of the surface of the object, but also lay a good foundation for subsequent transfer printing work. The selection of primer should be based on the material of the item to be printed, and it should be dried after spraying.
Select and prepare printing paper/film
Select suitable printing paper or water coated transfer film according to the color and pattern requirements of the item to be printed. These materials are usually subjected to special chemical treatments, with the desired colors and patterns printed on the surface.
Soaking and activation
Soak the selected printing paper or transfer film in water for a few seconds to separate its pattern from the substrate. Subsequently, an activator is uniformly sprayed on the surface of the film paper. The activator can quickly dissolve and destroy the base materials such as polyvinyl alcohol, but will not cause damage to the graphic and text layers, leaving them in a free state for easy transfer printing.
Transfer operation
Slowly press the printed item that has been sprayed with primer and dried into water, so that its surface comes into contact with the graphic layer. Under the action of water pressure, the graphic layer will gradually transfer to the surface of the object, forming the desired pattern. During this process, it is necessary to control the bonding speed between the item and the transfer film, avoid film wrinkles, and ensure the quality of transfer printing.
Cleaning and drying
After the transfer printing is completed, remove the item from the water and rinse with clean water to remove any remaining film and activator. Subsequently, drying treatment can be carried out using a hair dryer or drying oven to ensure thorough drying of the transfer ink layer.
Spray protective paint
To enhance the resistance of the graphic layer to the environment and improve adhesion, it is usually sprayed with paint after transfer printing. The sprayed varnish can be solvent based or UV varnish, which is completed through natural drying or UV curing.
