Daily Maintenance Guide for Consumer Electronics Injection Molds

1, Basic steps for daily maintenance
Cleaning molds: After each production is completed, the molds should be cleaned immediately. Use specialized mold cleaning agents or alcohol to remove oil stains, plastic residues, and dust from the surface of the mold. Pay special attention to cleaning key parts such as parting surfaces, gates, sliders, and ejector pins to prevent residue from affecting the accuracy and lifespan of the mold.
Check the surface of the mold: After cleaning, carefully inspect the mold surface for scratches, wear, or cracks. For minor scratches, grinding paste can be used for repair; For severe wear or cracks, the use should be immediately stopped and professional personnel should be contacted for repair.
Lubrication mold: Apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil or grease to the key moving parts of the mold, such as the slider, ejector pin, guide column, and guide sleeve, to reduce friction and wear, and improve the flexibility and accuracy of the mold's movement.
Check the fasteners of the mold: Regularly inspect the fasteners of the mold, such as screws, nuts, and pins, to ensure that they are tightened without looseness. For loose fasteners, they should be tightened immediately to prevent deformation or damage to the mold during use.
Checking the cooling system: The cooling system of injection molds is crucial for controlling the cooling rate of plastics and ensuring product quality. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check whether the water circuit of the cooling system is unobstructed, whether the cooling water is clean, and whether the temperature and pressure of the cooling water meet the requirements.
2, Precautions for daily maintenance
Avoid using hard objects for cleaning: When cleaning the mold, avoid using hard objects such as metal brushes and steel wire balls to avoid scratching the surface of the mold.
Regularly replace lubricating oil: Lubricating oil will gradually deteriorate during use, affecting the lubrication effect. Therefore, lubricating oil should be replaced regularly to ensure the lubrication performance of the mold.
Avoid molds being idle for a long time: molds that are idle for a long time are prone to rust and deformation. Therefore, when not using the mold, it should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment and coated with an appropriate amount of rust proof oil.
Pay attention to the storage method of molds: molds should be stored vertically to avoid stacking and squeezing, in order to prevent mold deformation and damage.
Training operators: Train mold operators to understand the structure, working principle, and maintenance methods of molds, and improve the efficiency and lifespan of mold use.
3, Solutions to common problems
Mold sticking: Mold sticking is usually caused by low mold temperature, poor plastic flowability, or scratches on the mold surface. The solutions include increasing the mold temperature, adjusting the plastic formula, repairing surface scratches on the mold, etc.
Mold wear: Mold wear is inevitable, but its lifespan can be extended through proper maintenance and upkeep. For severely worn mold components, they should be replaced or repaired in a timely manner.
Mold deformation: Mold deformation is usually caused by unreasonable mold design, improper use, or poor maintenance. The solutions include optimizing mold design, using molds reasonably, and strengthening mold maintenance and upkeep.
Poor cooling effect: Poor cooling effect can affect the cooling speed and product quality of plastics. The solution includes checking whether the water circuit of the cooling system is unobstructed, whether the cooling water is clean, and whether the temperature and pressure of the cooling water meet the requirements.
